How Much Does a Media Wall Cost in 2026?

What is a media wall?
A media wall is a full-height feature wall built around your TV — typically slatted wood panelling, a recessed TV mount, and very often an electric or bioethanol fireplace built into the lower half. They've exploded in popularity since 2023 because they hide all the cables, give a room real focal point, and replace the dated TV-on-a-stand look.
How much does a media wall cost?
For a typical UK living room (3-4 metres wide), a complete slatted media wall with TV mount, electric fireplace, integrated LED lighting and full plastered-in finish costs between £1,800 and £3,500 depending on size, materials and how complex the cable run is. At the lower end you're looking at MDF slats and a budget fire insert; at the higher end real oak slats and a premium fireplace.
What's included in our media wall installs?
Frame and stud work, slatted panel cladding (oak, walnut or painted MDF — your call), recessed TV bracket sized to your screen, electric fireplace insert with surround, integrated cable management, LED accent lighting if you want it, plastering of the surround, and full finish. We don't do half jobs.
How long does it take to install?
Most media walls take 3-5 working days from first cut to final wipe-down. The frame and slats go up fast; the fiddly bit is the plastering, electrical and cable work hidden behind. We work clean — dust sheets, hoovered up at the end of every day.
Do you need planning permission?
No — a media wall is internal joinery work. No planning required. If you're adding new sockets or moving electrics we'll need to notify Building Control, but we handle that for you.

Can you build a media wall around an existing fireplace?
Yes — we can frame around or replace the existing fireplace depending on what you want. Most clients go for the modern electric inserts because they don't need a flue and you can run them anytime.
Will it work with a curved or 75-inch+ TV?
Yes — we size the recess to your specific TV. Flat or curved, up to 85 inches comfortably. Tell us the model when you book.
Do you supply the TV and fireplace?
We can if you want — or you supply, we install. Most clients pick their own to suit budget and brand preference.
